Why can my community do this?

Back in August 2009, Public Act 96-0176 amended the Illinois Power Agency Act by providing for the aggregation of electrical load by municipalities and counties. This is the last part of the Deregulation Process. Until this Act was amended, only larger customers such as industrial, commercial, and governmental entities could participate.  Now everyone can save!

Why should my community do this?

• Join together, look like a wholesale buyer in the eyes of the supplier.
• Save your residents and small businesses money.

What does Maverick Energy Consulting do for my community?

• Work with Community Staff to educate the Board and general public on the opportunity.
• Work with Community to create program awareness for referendum.
• Create and submit the Request for Proposal to qualified supply partners.
• Assist with proposal review, determine selection criteria, and coach Community Staff on industry issues and concerns.
• Work with Community Legal staff on negotiating final terms and conditions for the electric supply agreement.
• Ultimate goal is to align the Community with a reliable, experienced and creditworthy supplier. Our experience makes sure the Community and their residents are well protected!
